Welcome to the LIfe and Planetary Evolution Science (LIPES) Group.
Our group is part of the Department of Earth and Space Science at the University of Osaka. With the Universe, Earth and planets, matter, and life as its central themes, the department uses physics-based approaches to pursue a wide range of research connecting Earth science and space science. Within it, our group focuses on astronomy and planetary science while also considering Earth and life as we investigate the possibilities for life in the Universe. We embrace diverse research styles, from individual investigations to collaborative experiments and projects that respect each member's research interests and contributions. The study of life in the Universe is an interdisciplinary field. We seek new insights by working across disciplines and combining methods such as numerical simulations, laboratory experiments, and fieldwork. Our research targets range from Earth and other Solar System bodies to exoplanets, and we develop individual research topics in consultation with students, taking their interests into account.
